Shiv Sena questions Education director over shortage of books

The Shivsena members called on Director of Education Gajanan Bhat and sought to know the reason for shortage of Marathi and Maths book for Std 11 and 12.

Bhat told the members that the books for Std 5 to 8 are being supplied by the Directorate of Education, while books for Std 9 to 12 are being printed and supplied by the Goa Board.
"I have already received a letter from the Goa Board chairman that the books for Std 9 to 12 are available in the book stalls," said Bhat.
Bhat said he is prepared to meet Goa Board chairman J R Rebello along with four representatives of Shivsainks to sort out the matter. However, the Shivasainks did not accede to his offer and decided to meet Rebello with all the Shivsainks.
Rajyapramukh of Goa Shivsena, Shivprasad Joshi told Rebello that Marathi and Maths books of higher secondary are not available in the market and
sought to know the reason for it. They demanded that the students, who have
appeared for the first semester, should be declared pass as no books were available in the market.
"If there is shortage, I will get it printed immediately and supply it to the book stalls. There is a possibility of shortage of Maths books as the same are published by NCERT. There are CBSE schools in Goa which uses NCERT books,"
he said.
