Apart from fielding his wife, Michael Lobo is also welcome to contest in Siolim, said former water resources minister and Siolim MLA Vinod Paliencar on Tuesday, suggesting that Lobos contesting the election will be a blessing in disguise for him.
Paliencar also said that alliance of the opposition was necessary and expressed confidence some understanding will be worked out very soon.
“If Michael (Lobo) contests the election from Siolim it will help me. Not only his wife but even if he contests I am welcoming him. He should contest,” Paliencar said while speaking to journalists at the sideline of a function in Anjuna.
Incidentally, Ports Minister Michael Lobo has publicly declared that his wife Delilah Lobo will contest the assembly election from Siolim. He has also started meeting people and organizing events in the constituency.
Paliencar said as an incumbent MLA he was very much in the race to contest the assembly election from the Siolim constituency.
He also said that no other party has approached him so far but he would remain loyal to the Goa Forward Party which made him an MLA and minister.
According to Paliencar most of the works taken up in Siolim have been completed and the only major pending work of an electricity substation at Baddem, Assagao will also be taken up within the next three to six months.
He also said all roads in the Siolim constituency will be repaired and hot-mixed by December this year.
“People of Siolim know me and they have an attachment towards me. The work I have done in the constituency and the trust reposed on me by my voters will keep me in good stead,” he said.
He said Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai will take appropriate decision on the alliance which was the need of the hour.
“Alliance has to happen and it will happen. Our leader will take the appropriate decision,” Paliencar said.
