Speaking for the locals, Naik said there was prima facie evidence of hill cutting in DSYA property and adding that it was wrong for the minister to claim he was not involved in any such activity.
They villagers have requested DSYA Director V M Prabhudesai to take serious action in the matter. The department, who were owners of the land measuring 32,000 square meter on a hill was, according to the locals, being illegally excavated and cut into.
“There is blatant, illegal and criminal act of excavation of mud and hill cutting on govt village school playground at Cumbharjua.”
“The MLA has excavated over 30,000 cubic meters of mud and illegally used it elsewhere,” he said.
“Excluding 9,000 square meters, the major part of the land is a hillock,” said Naik adding that on 15 January 2013, Madkaikar applied to DSYA seeking permission to level the said school playground. The permission was given in February that year.
They have also claimed that Madkaikar along with the village sarpanch criminally conspired to secure permission to excavate mud from the land.
