Some locals of St Cruz constituency have objected to the construction of a futsal ground by St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes, alleging the project does not have permissions from authorities concerned.
The construction of the ground is going on at the Kadamba plateau, abutting the IT Park property.
The locals informed that they had filed a complaint with the Chimbel panchayat some days back after which the authorities had issued stop-work notice.
“However, despite the stop-work notice the work on the futsal ground continued due to which we again notified the panchayat authorities to stop the work,” one of the locals informed the media.
When contacted, Chimbel Sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar informed that the panchayat had received application for construction of the ground but the panchayat had not granted any permission for the same.
“When we received complaint that the construction of the ground is undertaken without permission, we issued a stop-work notice. However, the work continued and today we notified the police, and stopped the work,” Chopdekar added.
