Lokayukta cracks the whip; wants asset disclosure

The Goa Lokayukta has issued an order asking that all ‘public functionaries’ file their statement of assets and liabilities for the financial year 2015-16 before June 30 this year.rnPublic functionaries include persons who are or were at any time the Chief Minister or a Minister of the State of Goa or a Member of the Legislative Assembly, the President or the Vice-President or the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman or the Secretary or the Managing Director of government bodies.

Government bodies include a local authority a government owned company, a statutory body or corporation or board established by or under a statute and owned or controlled by the government of Goa, including a co-operative society; or any other corporation or board or society owned.

SC floors state govts with a NEET blow

In a significant order, the Supreme Court on Monday rejected pleas of state governments and minority institutions to allow them to hold separate entrance exams for MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2016-17 saying only NEET provides for conducting such test for admission to these courses.
