Speaking to media persons, Parsekar said, “I had recently called a meeting of all the stakeholders. Ultimately, it is the colleges that have to implement this system and it has to be taken forward in a positive manner.”
The meeting was attended by Goa University Vice-Chancellor Satish Shetye, Registrar Y Reddy and principals of colleges, among others.
“During the meeting, several queries were being raised which included some practical problems too. Some also raised the issue of addition requirement for the staff. They also stated that as the University has conveyed the decision to implement CBCS now, it would be difficult for them to implement it immediately. Moreover, their prospectus’ for the academic year were also ready,” said Parsekar.
“Following this, I decided to defer it to the next year. Though the system has to be implemented, it cannot be done in a hurried manner and will be implemented from next academic year onwards,” he said.
He however stated that in the next six months, the issue will be deliberated on and the decision will be conveyed to the colleges well in advance.
