Saying at least three parties have approached the political outfit for an alliance to fight the 2022 election, Goencho Avaaz on Wednesday advised the people of Goa to beware of the entry of TMC in the state, suspecting a big conspiracy by some forces with the help of a ring master.
The GA came down heavily on the TMC, with party state convenor, Captain Viriato Fernandes, asking Luizinho Faleiro not to insult the intelligence of the people of Goa by expecting them to believe that his abrupt resignation from primary membership of the INC and as MLA of Navelim was in order to start a “movement of unification of our state to fight people who are trying to divide”.
When asked whether Congress Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao had called on him in the last two days, Capt Viriato said they probably have realized that GA has a standing amongst the people of Goa, having fought for causes of Goa.
To a question whether GA suspects the secular credentials of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Didi, having blocked the saffron brigade in Bengal in the recent Assembly election, GA vice-president Roshan Mathias said the TMC should have come to unite the opposition and not to divide, saying this is not good for the state of Goa. He cast doubts on the intentions of the TMC as the party is breaking the opposition parties.
Capt Viriato said GA will respond to the offer of alliances to only those parties who disclose their stand on the three linear projects, Coastal Zone Management Plan, Regional Plan etc. “We will soon call an emergency meeting of the GA to discuss the political situation”, he added.
He demanded that Luizinho Faleiro come clean on allegations that he gave a commitment to the 10 defector MLAs when they left the Congress that he would create a safe passage out of the BJP at the right time.
Sharing his perspective, Swapnesh Sherlekar, President of Goencho Avaaz Party said: “Sons of the soil themselves are betraying their motherland and selling off Goa for their selfish interests. This is a clarion call to people that collectively we will fight this and save Goa. The TMC should understand that Goa will not be used as a pawn to further any sinister political agendas that don’t work in the best interests of the people. Goans are more than capable of taking care of our own issues.’’

to decide on offers, if any
MARGAO: Tiatrist cum director, former Sarpanch Milagres de Chandor has said he would decide on his future political career after discussing with his workers of Cuncolim constituency.
After resigning from the Aam Aadmi Party, Milagres said he was not happy with the party and hence has decided to put in his papers.
Addressing the media, Milagres said he would consult his workers if any political party comes with an offer. “My social work will keep me in good stead in the future. As a tiatrist, writer and director, I had helped to prepare young talent after an audition. I am happy that these youngsters are now budding artists”, he added.
To a question, Milagres said he had severed his ties with the BJP after the demise of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar. “I had contested the Assembly election on the BJP ticket from Cuncolim because of Manohar Parrikar. He was a good person, who had taken the party to great heights”, he added.
Milagres made a plea to the government and the Tiatr Academy of Goa to take care of the tiatr fraternity, especially the elderly artistes by enhancing their pension. “I have discussed with TAG President Menino de Bandar to take up with the government to enhance the pension for the retired artists”, he added.
