Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira has alleged that several night clubs who have hired foreign DJs are amongst others playing loud music beyond 10pm, unfazed it will invite legal action. These clubs, he alleged, are not even sympathetic to the problems of the locals living in the vicinity.
“There are many foreign DJs playing music in these clubs, even after 10pm. They don’t fear the law, but we will ensure all this is completely stopped,” he told reporters on emerging from a meeting with the Director General of Police Jaspal Singh and the coastal police at Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
The meeting with the police officers was scheduled after the Division Bench agreed with the submissions of Ferreira, who submitted video evidence about outdoor music being played beyond 10 pm, and requested him to meet the DGP, and the police inspectors of Anjuna and Pernem Police Stations on the issue.
Ferreira appeared for Arnold De Sa, who filed the plea with the High Court relating to the rampant violations of the Noise Pollution Rules and contravention of order of the Supreme Court and various orders of the High Court.
The High Court, Ferreira added, has kept the petition open to be heard during the vacation period, if and when such violations are reported again.
