MARGAO
An LPG vapour cloud explosion took place at the Desi Tadka restaurant near the Durga petrol pump at Arlem-Fatorda past midnight, leaving the shop damaged, besides vehicles, including a car parked outside the shop.
The intensity of the explosion was so intense that the shutter was ripped open and the vehicles parked outside were left damaged.
Margao Fire Officer Gill D’Sa informed that it was not an LPG cylinder blast as was initially believed, saying the LPG cylinder in the kitchen was found intact.
He, however, attributed the blast to the LPG vapour cloud explosion caused by the leakage of the LPG before it came in contact with oxygen, triggering the explosion.
To a question, Gill said the restaurant owners have claimed to have sustained a loss of around Rs five lakh.
