Speaking to The Goan, Mamledar said if BJP’s intention was good and clear, then it would have resolved the issue much earlier.
Mamledar objected to BJP legislator from Panaji Siddharth Kunkolienkar’s demand to do thorough public consideration before bringing the right amendment to the law. “His demand itself shows that they want to delay the process. If they want Marathi to get status of official language, then they should have given it long back. Now, the election is nearing and BJP has made this stunt,’’ Mamledar said.
G R Dhavalikar, president of Marathi Rajbhasha Samiti (MRS) , had last week congratulated independent legislator Naresh Sawal for moving private member’s resolution and also Mamledar for supporting it. Even Dhavalikar smells it as ‘political stunt’.
“They love Marathi from heart, so they moved the resolution and it has got good support from other MLAs. But it could be also a political gimmick by delaying it,” Dhavalikar had said.
