A 35-year-old man died after allegedly sustaining a self-inflicted stab injury at a guest house in Siolim on Friday morning.
According to Anjuna Police, they received information at around 10 am that a man had injured himself with a knife at the guest house. The deceased was identified as Rohit Jalgaonkar, a native of Pune.
Police said Jalgaonkar allegedly used a kitchen knife to inflict a stab wound on the right side of his abdomen.
He was subsequently shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Siolim, where he was declared 'brought dead'.
Police inquiry revealed that Jalgaonkar had been staying in Siolim with his fiancée, Bukke Rathos (34), a native of Hyderabad, for the past one year.
According to police, the couple had reportedly been involved in arguments over the past few days following allegations concerning Jalgaonkar's alleged relationship with another woman.
Preliminary information gathered by police indicates that an argument took place between the couple on Friday morning, following which Jalgaonkar allegedly inflicted the injury on himself with the kitchen knife.
Anjuna Police have registered a case of unnatural death and further inquiry is underway.
