Taking cognisance of the school peon’s assault on four children for playing on the ground on Sunday, the school management has decided to lock the gate to the ground from evening to the next morning and the entire day on holidays.
A special meeting of the management committee will be held on January 16 and it is likely that a decision will also be taken to take strict action against those who vandalise the high school property in future.
A 54-year-old school peon, Premanand Shankar Gaude, was arrested on charges of assaulting four minor children who were playing football on a school ground in Dharbandora on Sunday afternoon.
When high school authorities investigated the matter on Monday, it was revealed that on Sunday, eight minor children who were not studying in the high school were playing in the verandah of the high school instead of playing on the ground. On the other hand, students studying in the high school were playing on the ground.
On Sundays and other holidays, a large number of women residing in the neighbourhood of the school would go to the ground for a walk and the high school gate was kept open especially for those women.
During the holidays, unknown persons had entered the high school premises and had vandalised the CCTV camera. It was also seen that the windows and the electricity lamps which were kept lit at night were also broken.
The school management committee had directed the peon/guard to take a walk in the high school occasionally during the holidays.
On Sunday, security guard Premanand Gaude had gone especially to the high school for an inspection, when he found the eight students from another school.
Following the incident on Sunday, the gate has been locked from Monday and the gate will be opened only for teachers, staff and students.
