With the State government relaxing restrictions during the extended statewide curfew, the fish and vegetable markets in Mapusa are set to reopen from Wednesday.
Workers from the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) were involved in cleaning and sanitising the markets ahead of the reopening on Wednesday.
MMC chairperson Shubhangi Vaingankar had inspected the market on Sunday along with some other councillors and had announced the reopening of the fish market.
But now, the council has decided to open both, the fish and vegetable markets.
Since the Mapusa market was closed during the curfew, vendors and traders began selling their wares by the roadside near the old Asilo road.
The MMC has decided to stop this roadside business once the fish and vegetable market reopen on Wednesday.
"The State government has relaxed the curfew restrictions and so, the MMC has decided to reopen fish and vegetable markets from Wednesday. The workers have cleaned and sanitised the market," said MMC Vice Chairperson Chandrashekhar Benkar.
