Margao Municipal Council’s ambitious bio-methanation plant is gradually taking shape at the SGPDA mega retail market, with Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes saying the plant will be ready for commissioning by August-end.
Conducting a review of the progress of work of the Rs 2.40 crore bio-methanation plant, the Chief Officer said the Pune-based company has already completed 70-80 per cent on the civil work till date. “The company will bring the plant and install at the site around August”, he said.
To a question, the Chief Officer said that the Pune-based company has promised to commission the bio-methanation plant by August-end.
Asked to comment on the fate of the remaining two bio-methanation plans for which approval has been granted by the government for installation, the Chief Officer said it is for the elected council to take a call on the remaining two plants after assessing the performance of the plant set for commissioning in August. .
Chief Officer Agnelo was responsible for proposing installation of only one bio-methanation plant in the city in order to check the efficacy of the technology before the civic body goes in for the remaining two plants.
