MARGAO
Colmorod-Navelim continues to be haunted by water pipeline bursts, making it a usual fortnightly phenomenon.
Shadow Council for Margao Convenor Savio Coutinho pointed out that on Monday morning, a 200mm diameter PVC pipeline burst in front of the South Goa District Library at Colmorod Margao, leaving certain pockets of ward 20 without water for the day.
“Till 6 in the evening, workers were seen digging the area in search of the pipeline. The maintenance contractor at the site assured that the repair work shall be completed by Monday night”, he said.
Coutinho added: "What is interesting is that while the capacity of the laid pipeline are designed for a pressure of 6kg/m³, the pipeline burst when the pressure of water released is less than 2kg/m³. And till today we don't seem to get any proper justification for the frequent breakdowns/bursts", Coutinho lamented.
