On Saturday evening, Mapusa Police arrested Atik Golandaz (22) and Jairam Figore (42), both from Baina, for allegedly aiding the mother in kidnapping six-year-old boy. In the course of investigation, the alleged accused spilled the beans and revealed that the boy and the mother were hiding in a friend s house in Usgao. Mapsua Police rushed to Usgao and brought back the mother and the son. The son was later handed over to the father. The Panjim HC had issued a notice to the mother, Vena Ghode on June 8 to produce the boy before the court based on a Habeas Corpus petition filed by the father, Dajvip V Patkar. The court notice could not be served on Vena since she was not at home. The father had also released advertisements in newspapers announcing a reward of Rs 50,000 to those who could provide information on the whereabouts of Vena and the son. It may be recalled that Mapusa Police had registered an offence on June 4 against the mother, Vena and four others for kidnapping her six-year-old son from her estranged husband s house in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa. According to complaint, Vena had abducted the boy from husband s house along with four unknown persons. It may be recalled that the mother of the child had made a similar but unsuccessful attempt in March 2015 to kidnap the child after school hours in Khorlim. Both the father and the grandfather of the child are advocates, while the child s paternal aunt is a judge in a Mapusa court.
