The Margao Municipal Council on Friday witnessed an uproar after citizens who visited the civic body for official work were left disappointed after the server was down, crippling the services.
Some of the people had come from far away places to pay the taxes, but had to return home disappointed after the officials maintained that the services will be restored only in the afternoon.
Resultantly, one could find a queue of citizens in the corridor of the Municipal building waiting for their turn to pay the taxes.
A lady senior citizen, who had come all the way from Panaji to pay her tax, lamented that she would now have to return all the way again to pay her house tax.
MMC Accounts and Taxation Officer, Abhay Rane explained to the people that the tax collection cannot be carried out manually, assuring the people that the services will be restored only around noon.
