With the annual Julus  of Eid Milad Un Nabi round the corner, the police authorities  have decided to tighten the screws this time round after the communal  flare up in the Gogol Housing Board last year.

In fact, Fatorda  police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak has come out with a host of  measures to regulate the procession at the Housing Board, while sending  warning to the trouble makers that they would be taken to task under  preventive measures under the Criminal Procedure Code.

After a  meeting with the Mohala committee of the Gogol Housing Board considering  that the Julus is scheduled on November 10, the police has  come out with a host of measures, including removal of haphazard parking  of two-wheelers along the roadside on the procession route, especially  near Gogleshwar temple. Members were told that the police would initiate  action against indecent and haphazard parking along the route.

The police further told the members that illumination on both sides of the  road, from Marathi/Urdu school to Gogleshwar temple will be allowed  from November 7-11 for five days and as such they were told to draw a  rough sketch and intimate the police before actual commencement of work  on the illumination to avoid any untoward incident.

PI Kapil warned  that the police will initiate preventive measures by submitting  proceedings under Section 107 of the CrPC before Sub-Divisional  Magistrate, Margao against accused persons involved in crimes two days  before the Julus. The police also sent out a message loud and  clear that other preventive measures will also be taken by issuing  notices to the bad characters under section 149 of the CrPC.
