Margao Municipal Council has planned a mega three-day Carnival fiesta - Margao Carnival Festival 2016 - beginning February 7, that will showcase a host of performances by Konkani singers, stand-up comedians and top bands from across the country.

Day one of the festival will have the traditional Carnival float parade along the Ravindra Bhavan avenue. The council has informed that the four-lane wide road will accommodate 30,000 people along the route to witness the magnanimous float parade. The parade will include all the top floats in Goa espousing the Carnival heritage of Goa. It will be followed by a musical evening at the SGPDA parking lot, with top bands in attendance.

The following day will witness a 'Kids Theme Park' which is touted to be a first-of-its-kind set up in Goa, and will witness an entire theme park for children created at the venue. It will also include bouncing castles, cartoon character mascots, games and surprises. It will be held at the SGPDA parking lot near the float parade route.

The last day of the Carnival will see the 'Traditional Konkani Night', with traditional khell tiatrs from all wards in Fatorda and Margao performing at various locations in Margao city. The main attraction for the day will be Sonia Sirsat, who is rated as India’s best fadista, Cielda Pereira of the ‘Nachomia Kumpasar’ fame, Francis de Tuem among various other local acts. The venue selected is the SGPDA parking lot near the float parade route.

The Margao Carnival Committee 2016 headed by MMC Chairperson Dr Babita Angle Prabhudesai has invited citizens of Margao in particular, and Goa in general, to partake in the celebrations for a grand Carnival 2016.
