He was speaking during the inspection of the NH-17B expansion at Matvem-Dabolim.
Godinho along with Chicalim sarpanch Neelima Naik, other panchas and officials of the national highway inspected the work.
The expansion work of the highway had come to a grinding halt as there are residential structures, underground electricity cables and
the task of shifting of electricity poles.
The officials present for the site inspection brought to Godinho’s notice that the residential structures along the highway, underground electricity cables and electricity poles pose a hindrance to carry out the work.
They further brought to his notice that as they are unaware of the route of the underground cable laid by the electricity department and non-shifting of electricity poles, they cannot carry forward the expansion work.
Godinho directed the officials to measure the structures situated along the highway before carrying out
the work and to rehabilitate the residents to avoid inconvenience to them.
Later, Godinho assured the officials to take up the electricity related matter with the power minister and work
out a solution to remove the poles and realign the underground electricity cable.
