Mauvin seeks more central funds

Making a case for special status in the House on Thursday, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said that enhanced central funds will only further the acceleration of Goa s progress.

“Why should Goa be a victim of Gadgil-Mukherjee formula? Should our progress come in the way of our demand for higher allocation of central funds?” Godinho questioned while pointing out that the North-Eastern states receive almost 90 per cent devolution of central funds. He said that the Centre has to make good the losses suffered by Goa s economy due to ban on mining activities.
