In a bid to iron out differences in the ruling group of the Cuncolim Municipal Council, former Urban Development Minister, Joaquim Alemao, on Tuesday had a meeting with the seven-member group at his Varca residence.

Joaquim informed after the meeting that all issues which had cropped up between the Chairperson and the Vice-chairperson have been ironed out. “The ruling group has decided to unitedly work together in the civic body and ensure better facilities and administration to the people of Cuncolim,” Joaquim said. Sources in the know said the Alemao camp was apparently concerned over the negative publicity his ruling group in the civic body was getting over the differences between the Municipal Chairperson and the Vice-chairperson.

The Railway Station in Vasco will get separate dustbins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes as part of an initiative by the Railway Ministry at all major stations in the country.

the goan I networkVASCO According to an official press release, Indian Railways has decided to provide separate dustbins to collect biodegradable (wet waste) and non-biodegradable (dry waste) on platforms and all passenger interface areas at major category stations apart from vending stalls, in order to carry out efficient disposal of waste. Incidentally, Vasco railway station is the only station in Goa which has been earmarked for this scheme.…
