OLD GOA
Kick-starting the campaign of MGP in St Cruz constituency, former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar addressed a corner meeting at Indira Nagar-Chimbel and promised the residents of Indira Nagar that he will change the face of the locality if MGP’s candidate is elected as MLA.
“I have come here to seek your support for MGP candidate Prakash Naik,” Dhavalikar informed while stating that St Cruz needs a MLA who will care for the voters, listen to their problems and solve it.
“In my Madkai constituency also, there is a 20-point programme locality but the surroundings are not as dirty as Indira Nagar. There is no garbage, no release of sewage water in the drains and the surroundings are clean,” Dhavalikar added, while stating that he will bring the same plan in Indira Nagar where a sewerage line will be laid and the sewage water will be treated before it is released into the river.
Dhavalikar then said he will ask the MGP workers to immediately begin a survey of Indira Nagar for laying the sewerage pipeline.
“Indira Nagar has been neglected by successive MLAs because people have voted for persons who have bribed them,” Dhavalikar added, and urged the residents to change their thinking and vote for a hardworking candidate like Naik.
“On Wednesday, there is a meeting and many people will come to you offering money to attend the meeting. Do not attend it,” he advised while indirectly referring to the BJP Melawa to be held on Wednesday.
“Since the last 19 years, I have been dedicating one hour every day to meet my voters. This type of MLA is needed here. You need an MLA who will work with love for the people,” he further stated while chiding the current St Cruz MLA for not having time for his voters.
Dhavalikar further said he takes the responsibility of changing not only Indira Nagar but entire Chimbel. “In Chimbel, there is a lake where the water is contaminated. Once upon a time, water from this lake used to be supplied to Panaji. It lies neglected today because the MLA has ignored it. In five years time, I will make sure that at least water from this lake is used for washing purposes,” he promised.
Dhavalikar further informed that he will campaign in St Cruz constituency for 10 more meetings along with other party leaders while urging the voters to vote in large numbers for the MGP in the forthcoming elections.
Chimbel ZP member Sandeep Vernekar, Merces sarpanch Prakash Naik and other party leaders also spoke at the meeting. Interestingly, all the speakers spoke in Hindi.

I am born a people’s man: Sudin
OLD GOA: Former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar once again reiterated that MGP will decide on its alliance partner on the day the code of conduct comes into force.
Speaking to The Goan on the sidelines of MGP’s corner meeting at Indira Nagar, Dhavalikar informed that the decision to ally with the BJP or not will be taken once the code of conduct comes is announced.
When questioned whether MGP will field its candidate in St Cruz even if the alliance happens with BJP as St Cruz BJP block has demanded the seat for it, Dhavalikar said MGP will definitely field a candidate whether the alliance happens or not.
On allegations levelled against him that development works in St Cruz constituency were hampered during his term as PWD minister, Dhavalikar rubbished the claims and said such allegations are politically motivated.
“As far as Sudin Dhavalikar is concerned, as a person I have worked for development right from 1980. Till today, I am undertaking development and I will never block files due to petty issues, unlike what the CM does,” he added.
“Go to my office and check the register. I clear files within 24 hours of receipt and if I am out of station, the files are cleared within 7-8 days. In the CM’s department, it does not happen so,” he further informed. “I am born a people’s man and will die a people’s man,” he concluded.
