MARGAO

Former Minister Mickky Pacheco has on Tuesday threatened to move the Judiciary to demand a probe into the death of one John Nazareth, who had  died way back on January 22 last in Betalbatim village.

Addressing  the media, Mickky pointed out that he along with a group of villagers  had petitioned to the Colva police, the South district police chief,  Crime branch, Vigilance, besides the Archbishop of Goa to inquire into  the circumstances leading to the death of John Nazareth.

He said an inquiry into Nazareth’s death was sought by the villagers to find out  the circumstances leading to his death, whether a homeopath doctor can issue a death certificate and the registration of death by the local body.

Mickky said that the villagers are  bracing up to move the Judiciary since nearly five months have passed  since Nazareth’s death had taken place, and added, “Let the authorities  enlighten the villagers whether a homeopath doctor is authorised to  issue a death certificate.”

Incidentally, the issue had figured at the gram sabha of Betalbatim VP with Sarpanch Constancio Miranda saying the death certificate was issued  by the Panchayat Secretary.
