Vice Admiral Sunil K Damle (Retd), former flag officer commanding Southern Naval Command and flag officer commanding Goa Naval, reiterated the importance of self-reliance through indigenisation and benevolence of Indian economy by improving the aviation sectors.
He was addressing a gathering at the state-level interschool debate on ‘Transfer of Technology in Aviation sector using Make in India concept' at Rajhans auditorium, Dabolim, on Saturday, under the aegis of ASI Goa Branch.
He also added about the usage of high-end technologies in aviation industries and widened the horizon of the school children present at the event.
A total of five schools participated in the debate, with two participants from each school arguing for and against the topic and the Navy Children School won the first prize.
The ASI Goa branch conducts this annual debate to promote and create awareness about aviation amongst the youth and school children and has also been conducting school out reach activities by visiting various schools in the Goa region. The rolling trophy for the interschool aeronautical debate was awarded to Navy Children School and the runner-up prize was awarded to Deep Vihar Higher Secondary school.
