Industries Minister, Mauvin Godinho on Friday told the House that the ‘Mini India’ project that is coming up in Pernem is not a casino but a theme park which will display models/replicas of key monuments of every State in the country.
Godinho said the IPB has given an in-principle nod to the project of M/s BramhaCorp Theme Park.
The proposed theme park will feature miniature models of the nation’s historical monuments made up of eco-friendly materials and Indian culture (folk dances, festivals, spices and cuisine).
He said the project was first proposed at Quelossim in South Goa but since the locals in the village opposed the project it was shifted to Pernem.
“It will be like a big garden and 80 per cent of the jobs will go for Goans,” Godinho said.
He further informed that the investor does not own land in the village but has tied up with another businessman who owns land there.
The Industries Minister was responding to Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa during the Question Hour.
“People in Pernem wanted to know what ‘Mini India’ is. People did not know what was coming up there. Locals should be taken into confidence whenever any projects are proposed in their area,” D’Costa said.
