All eyes on BJP’s game plan on Dabolim ahead of LS polls

What’s BJP’s game plan on Dabolim with just couple of months to go for the Lok Sabha polls, more so with the saffron brigade having set its eyes to wrest the South Goa seat? Well, one will have to wait for the ruling party to unveil its strategy. But, it’s a sheer coincidence the Congress turncoats from South Goa, Diggu, Aleixobab and Sankalpbab all took up cudgels for Dabolim and continuation of the airport. Diggu even went a step further to inform the House how the Centre had promised him a decade ago when he was the Congress Chief Minister that Dabolim will never be shut down. In an election year, words will not suffice, but action. International fights taking off from Dabolim will be an acid test for the saffron brigade and the turncoats. Any questions?

Goa Forward’s support in LS polls: Will it be NDA or INDIA?

With battle lines drawn between the Congress-led INDIA alliance and BJP-led NDA for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, a question did the rounds in Saxtti countryside “ how would the regional party Goa Forward go about the 2024 LS polls. Will party chief Vijaibab Sardesai adopt a neutral stand in the coming polls or support either of the two alliances. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Goa Forward was part of the NDA alliance given that Vijaibab and his party was part of the BJP-led Goa government. In the 2022 Assembly polls, the Goa Forward had stitched an alliance with the Congress. Wait and watch.

Patkar camp gathering evidence to make case against rival group

It was a week when the Congress camp headed by GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar has been reportedly trying to find out whether the rival camp had gone into a huddle with a Minister in a restaurant at Dona Paula. If sources are to be believed, the Amit camp is on the job to filter reports that some members of the rival camp had a meeting with a Minister, one who does not see eye with the Congress chief. Wait and watch as members of the Amit camp seem to be gathering evidence to make a case against the rival group. You know why.

Politician who hasn’t forgotten the formalin in fish episode

Guess the politician who has seemed to have not forgotten the day when an FDA officer had confirmed traces of formalin in fish sold at the wholesale fish market five years ago? Well, former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Girishbab Chodankar has remembered the day when fish laced with formalin had raised its ugly head in Goa’s lone wholesale fish market on July 12, 2018. The sensitive formalin issue had come in handy for Girishbab and the party to take the battle in the BJP camp and to take on arch rival Vijaibab Sardesai over the last half a decade. Any questions?

Protocol again comes to fore, this time at Chieftains prog

Protocol came to haunt the administration yet again, this time when Social Welfare Minister Subhashbab Phaldesai received an invite at the eleventh hour as the Chief Guest for the government-organised Chieftains Memorial programme at Cuncolim. A visibly agitated Subhashbab was forthright in expressing his displeasure right in front of the senior State administration officials over the protocol lapse. Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant was scheduled to pay tributes to the Chieftains, while Subhashbab was invited as the guest of honour. When the CM could not make it for the programme, an SOS was sent to Subhashbab to preside over the programme, taking the Minister by surprise, since he had received no invite from the administration. Indeed, time for introspection.

Neither anti-coal activists nor the accused charged in the Chandor midnight protest had ever demanded the government and the Congress turncoats to withdraw the cases foisted against the protestors. They seem to have also no issue over the police decision not to charge the politicians participating in the Chandor midnight protest though a host of politicos, including Digambar Kamat, Aleixo Sequeira, Sankalp Amonkar, Yuri Alemao, Alton D’Costa, Vijai Sardesai, Venzy Viegas,…
