Minibus set ablaze in Mapusa
MAPUSA: A private minibus was set on fire late Thursday evening at Karraswaddo-Mapusa, causing damages of about Rs 4 lakh. No casualty was however reported.
A minibus with ayurvedic medicine (jaddi butti) which was stationed near the Bandekar fuel station in Karraswaddo, was apparently set on fire by some miscreants.
After receiving a call at around 8.40 pm, Mapusa Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
The total damage was estimated at around Rs 4 lakh, a fire brigade official said.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who was passing by from Pernem to Panaji at that particular moment stopped his car to inquire about the incident.
“The chief minister inquired about the incident on whether there was any casualty,” fire officer, Dnyaneshwar Sawant informed.
Mapusa Police is investigating the case.
