Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira expressed satisfaction on Friday over the progress at Cutbona fishing jetty, stating that things are slowly but surely falling into place. The Minister is set to visit the jetty again on September 30 to assess the progress on various measures, including pending work and the initiation of additional actions.
Sequeira highlighted that the majority of issues at the fishing jetty have been addressed, following outbreaks of dengue and cholera at the State’s largest fishing hub in mid-August. “Out of the 100-odd dinghies dumped at the newly constructed 222-metre jetty, only three remain to be removed. Of the 46 vessels anchored at the new jetty, just one is still awaiting towing,” he said.
During a review meeting with the Cutbona Boat Owners Federation, led by Patrick D’Silva, Vinay Tari, and others, Sequeira praised the cooperation from the federation members.
