Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has demanded that responsibility be fixed for the shortcomings plaguing the newly opened Porvorim flyover.
Khaunte pointed out that officials who prepared the flyover’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) are no longer with the Public Works Department (PWD), but said this could not be an excuse for avoiding accountability.
“Accountability has to be fixed. Those who did the DPR are no longer in PWD, but someone has to own up responsibility. These are not minor flaws,” Khaunte said.
Questioning who would be held responsible if there were deficiencies in the flyover’s planning or DPR, Khaunte said he would write to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant seeking that responsibility be established.
His remarks come amid mounting concerns over traffic management and safety on the recently opened corridor, which has witnessed a series of accidents and operational problems.
