Miscreants damage four cars at Chicalim, locals fume

Miscreants vandalised four cars parked in an area at Assoi-Dongri in Chicalim sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

They smashed the glasses of the parked cars and after gaining access to the dashboard, tore some car documents and flung them on the ground.

The incident has angered locals who demanded intensified police patrolling in the area and have threatened to take law into their hands if the cops fail to act in the matter.

Some residents suspected that it could be the handiwork of some locals in the area, since only cars belonging to residents of Assoi-Dongri had been targeted.

They have ruled out theft as the miscreants have only destroyed documents belonging to the selected car owners. They claimed there were a few spots in the locality where anti-social elements sat to drink and smoke at night.

“Only our cars have been vandalised. Our panch had cleaned the area and now there are a few spots where people drink all night and make noise. Even women who walk to work to the airport at 5 am have earlier complained that there are people found drinking till wee hours. Some unoccupied gaddas are become spots for drunkards,” complained a car owner Sanjay Gawas.

“I received a call in the morning stating that my car was vandalised and my documents were torn,” said another owner, Senappa Murti.

Another owner Mahadev Naik added: “My driver stays in a room close by, but he did not hear anything. I got a call from a person early morning saying that my car was vandalised. The front glass has been smashed,” he said.
