Unknown miscreants targeted the Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club, Baida in Chinchinim village by lifting away the trophies, besides decamping with cash from the club premises and damaging the goal posts and nets.
A complaint to this effect has been lodged with the Cuncolim police by the club committee. The incident came to light in the morning when the club members had come to clean the ground.
Club President Rosario Dias told the media that miscreants targeted the club house last night when unknown persons ransacked the cupboards to lift away the winners and runners-up trophies stored inside. “The cash stacked inside the cupboard, generated through the Housie has also been lifted away along with some documents. The miscreants have also damaged the goalposts and the nets,” he said.
Saying that club had purchased the winners and runners-up trophies since the football finals are scheduled on the day coinciding with the feast, Rosario said a similar incident had taken place in the year 2022. “We have lodged a complaint with the Cuncolim police. The Cuncolim police is investigating into the incident,” he said.
