MARGAO
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and members of the Betul panchayat took strong exception to ONGC’s decision to keep them and the panchayat body in the dark over the construction of the temporary pontoon during India Energy Week.
The Quepem MLA blamed the BJP government for failing to object to the Mormugao Port Authority exercising jurisdiction over the Betul coastline.
“The Betul coast should remain with the people of Goa. The Betul panchayat was not taken into confidence during the construction of the floating jetty. But when the pontoon drifted away after the incident, fingers were pointed at the MLA and the panchayat,” he said.
