MLA vows action on pending Laadli Laxmi applications from Aldona

MAPUSA

Acknowledging the difficulties faced by people due to delay in releasing funds for social welfare schemes, Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira on Saturday extended a helping hand to his constituents with pending or rejected Laadli Laxmi applications, urging them to reach out to him for assistance.

The opposition Congress MLA emphasised his commitment to addressing the issue of pending applications, revealing that he had raised the matter in the assembly, prompting the issuance of the sanction orders.

“If there is a delay on our part, we can write to the minister explaining our reason and to accept our applications. Don’t sit at home after your application is rejected thinking there is no chance. I will also inquire about those applications that are pending so that these are released soon. I am the intervenor between you and the government,” Ferreira said.

The Aldona MLA was addressing a gathering while distributing the Laadli Laxmi sanction letters to 22 beneficiaries in Corjuem.

He also assured the people that his team would aid those whose applications were rejected, helping them rectify any deficiencies such as missing documents to facilitate the release of funds.

Ferreira highlighted his proactive approach by seeking detailed information on pending and rejected applications, including the duration of pending applications and reasons for rejections, such as being out of time.

Expressing concern over delays of up to four years in disbursing funds, Ferreira emphasised the importance of timely assistance, particularly for marriage expenses and other essential needs.

He emphasised his readiness to assist applicants, even if they have relocated to other villages, stressing the unity of the community.
