Stating that ministers should visit Bhoma village and understand the ground reality instead of making statements on the highway expansion project, RGP MLA Viresh Borkar has stated that his party will continue supporting the locals in opposing the project which is being proposed at the cost of houses, temples, culture and identity of the villagers.
Borkar made the statement while addressing reporters in Panaji on Thursday. “Instead of making presentation in the comfort of their offices in Panaji, the PWD minister should go to Bhoma and address the issues of the locals on the ground,” Borkar stated while slamming the minister for continuously stating that only four houses will be affected.
“The notification clearly shows that 64 houses will get affected. Then how come the minister says only four,” asked Borkar, while informing that the PWD minister should explain this to the people of Bhoma.
“The locals are constantly highlighting how the temples would be affected by the highway expansion and it is the duty of the minister to address their concerns,” the MLA added.
He pointed out that in Agassaim, houses of locals have developed cracks due to the construction of the Zuari bridge project and it will be the same in Bhoma as well.
“The houses have developed numerous cracks on the walls, on the floors and the people are forced to leave their residences. Then PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar did not even care to visit these houses,” said Borkar.
The MLA further questioned why the government had not been taking people into confidence before going ahead with projects detrimental to the locals.
“Will the ministers visit Bhoma only after temples and houses come crashing down?” he posed.
He further advised Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to visit Bhoma and listen to the grievances of the locals.
