MARGAO
Fish, coconuts and fruits made its way to the old-age and children’s homes in and around the commercial capital as the Margao Municipal Council launched its drive against encroachments across the city on Monday.
At the end of day one of the drive, the municipality delivered fish, coconuts and fruits to the Margao old-age and children’s home at Gogol, Pajifond and Benaulim as promised by the Chief Officer.
The drive promised by newly-posted CO started on Monday with the MMC market inspectors and workers accompanied by the police going about the exercise.
Moments after the official completed day one of the drive, a group of vendors had come to see the Chief Officer with a plea to spare them in the time of the pandemic.
The CO told the media the drive achieved its intended objective, as he renewed his appeal to the illegal vendors to refrain from encroaching on public places.
