The State government will soon file its reply in the Delhi High Court over the disqualification of a company and disallowing it from participating in the Request For Proposal (RFP) for the proposed greenfield airport project at Mopa.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has, however, clarified that this step will not affect the construction of the project and it will start as per the schedule.
Speaking to The Goan, Parsekar said, “They have requested for inclusion of their name in the list of shortlisted companies for participating in the RFP. We will file our reply in this matter. But the work on the airport will begin as per schedule.”
The State government had shortlisted five companies for participating in the RFP for the proposed Mopa airport. One of the companies, Voluptas Developers, was disqualified after it failed to get security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The company then approached the Delhi High Court with a writ petition. The Delhi High Court has now sent notices to the State government and MHA seeking their reply on the same.
Parsekar, however, clarified that the State government had not disqualified the company.
“We had not disqualified the company. After it failed to get security clearance from MHA, it was disqualified following instructions from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Delhi. Earlier, there were five companies that were shortlisted,” said Parsekar, adding that only four companies were finalised for RFP as per instructions of the Ministry.
“Now if they tell us to include them, we will do so. If there are five companies instead of four, it is a good thing. Competition will also increase,” he said.
