Nearly 600 students of Dr K B Hedgewar High School, Bambolim participated in the ‘Surya Mahakumbh’ programme organised by Rajendra Singh Urja Prakalp, Mumbai in association with Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA). The programme is locally supported by Seva Sanyog Foundation, Mumbai.
The students participated in the activity of making noodles using solar energy under the guidance of teachers who were initially briefed by the resource persons.
The activity was aimed at creating awareness on use of solar energy.
Speaking to The Goan, School Headmaster Vilas Satarkar said, “By participating in this activity, students learnt an easy way of cooking using solar energy. Also the equipment used was the packing foam which was attached with aluminium lining. Students also got to know that cooking using solar energy is not a costly affair and can be done at low cost using material which is easily available.”
