Verna Police seize truckload of cattle bones at Cansaulim

CORTALIM

Verna Police are investigating the source of cattle bones which were loaded in a truck at the house of a beef trader in Cansaulim on Wednesday.

Verna Police has detained the truck and has written to Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the veterinary department for their reports.

Verna PSI Ramchan Naik told The Goan that they swung into action after receiving a call from Govansh Raksha Abhiyan that a truckload of cattle bones was being transported to a factory in Chennai.

“While the veterinary doctor has inspected the bones, we are awaiting his report on the source of bones, since the trader has shown us a certificate issued by the veterinary doctor from Belagavi. GSPCB's help is being sought whether any pollution norms need to be satisfied for transportation,” said PSI Naik, adding that the investigations are in progress.
