Stalls, drone show draw strong public response

Headland Sada turned into a lively hub of celebration on Saturday evening as the first-ever Mormugao Summer Fest opened to a huge response, with thousands of people filling the venue late into the night.
The two-day festival was inaugurated by MLA Sankalp Amonkar in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade, GTDC Chairman Kedar Naik, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, and former MP Narendra Sawaikar. Soon after the inauguration, visitors began arriving in large numbers, creating a festive atmosphere with music, lights, and activity across the grounds.
A key attraction was the wide range of stalls run by self-help groups, which drew steady crowds throughout the evening. Many stall owners reported strong sales, as visitors explored local products, food, and handmade items. The initiative offered a useful platform for local entrepreneurs while adding to the festival’s charm.
The highlight of the evening was the much-awaited drone show, which lit up the sky and drew loud cheers. The display impressed the crowd, with many capturing the moment on their mobile phones.
The programme also included the felicitation of 40 local individuals for their contributions in various fields. The honours were presented in the presence of dignitaries and were well received by the audience.
Families, young people, and visitors from across the region attended in large numbers, creating a lively atmosphere. Good organisation and a variety of activities kept people engaged throughout the evening.
With a strong start and enthusiastic participation, the Mormugao Summer Fest has set a high standard in its debut edition. The festival will continue for another day, with organisers expecting a similar turnout.
