The bidding deadlines for the tender floated in May by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) for a six-lane elevated corridor (flyover) on the NH-66 (formerly National Highway 17) between Guirim and Porvorim has been extended to July 3.
The original deadline had ended on Thursday.
The flyover is expected to ease the traffic congestion at various points along the NH-66 between ‘Teen Building’ in Porvorim and Guirim.
The total cost of the six-lane EC, including the approach roads, is estimated at Rs 474.64 crore. The successful bidder is expected to execute the work in two years and will also be tasked with its maintenance for a decade.
It was approved in the MoRTH’s 2022-23 annual plan of Goa related to National Highways and was part of a Rs 2,228 crore package which also included four-laning of the stretch between Navelim and Cuncolim, another 6.5 km stretch between Mashem and Pollem in Canacona and a Goa-Karnataka border stretch of around eight kilometres.
