The Mukta Drishti Foundation (MDF) has adopted the remote Cotigao village in Canacona to provide health facilities every fortnight.
As part of this exercise, MDF will conduct general and specialised medical camps on and will provide treatment for ailments.
Inaugurating the second leg of the camp on Sunday, Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes appealed to residents of Cotigao to ignore the beeline of politicians visiting the village who would stop their visits after assembly elections and instead, avail the benefits of medical camps provided by MDF.
Earlier, Dr Kishore Saluskar of MDF said the foundation along with doctors, dentists, ophthalmologists and other specialists will hold medical camps every fortnight in different parts of the village.
“On August 15, we distributed sanitary pads to young women of the village and on Sunday, we conducted a general and dental camp. On September 5, we will conduct an eye camp at Kuskem.”
“The facilities offered include checking of haemoglobin, diabetes, BP, dental care, etc. Besides, in coordination with Red Cross, we are providing CPR training to over 30 volunteers from the village and will provide them with first-aid medical kits,” said Dr Saluskar.
Among those present on the occasion included Dr Vinod Naik, Dr Shabha Gaonkar, Dr Dangui and Cotigao Sarpanch Daya Gaonkar.
