MAPUSA
The bye-election for Ward V of the Nadora panchayat, held on Sunday, saw a voter turnout of more than 87 percent.
The election proceeded peacefully, with no incidents reported during the polling process.
The fate of the three candidates contesting for the seat will be decided, with the counting of votes scheduled for Monday at the government complex in Mapusa.
The ward is reserved for OBC candidates.
The election became necessary following the sudden demise of panchayat member Deepak Nadodkar in August, prompting the need for a by-election.
Three candidates are competing for the seat: Kundan Kalangutkar, Prasad Nanodkar, and Rajendra Mandrekar.
The counting process will determine who will fill the vacancy and serve the remainder of the term.
