Nagaland youth killed in road mishap at Nerul

A youth from Nagaland was killed in a road mishap near the Nerul panchayat late Wednesday night.

Porvorim police said the incident took place sometime about 11.30 pm when they received a call stating that a car had struck a scooter, leaving two riders injured, and had fled from the spot.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim in 108 ambulance.

During inquiry, it was revealed that Manju Kumar (25), a labourer at a washing centre and a native of Jharkhand but residing in Candolim, along with three other occupants were moving from Nerul to Candolim in Hyundai Creta car owned by Gurudatt Lawande.

On reaching near the Nerul panchayat office, the car dashed an oncoming scooter, causing injuries to Tek Raj Naresh Sond (39), a cook by profession and a native of Chembur-Mumbai, and Tokato Chisti (29) of Dimapur, Nagaland. Chisti died of injuries while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital.

Police have traced the car involved in the accident and have registered an offence against the driver of the car.
