Property and home owners in Panaji and surrounding suburbs have been given additional time to verify their holdings under the ongoing pilot NAKSHA survey.
In a public notice, the Inspector of Survey and Land Records (ISLR), Panaji, has called upon residents of the Corporation of the City of Panaji and adjoining peri‑urban areas to appear before the department between August 10 and 31, on working days, to submit documents for preparation of draft Urban Property (UrPro) Cards, if they have not already done so.
The notice covers properties in Panaji, Bambolim, Cujira, Calapor, Durgawadi, Taleigao, Morambi‑O‑Grande, Renovadi, Murda and Morambi‑O‑Pequeno. Property holders are required to produce the NAKSHA notice copy, title documents, identity proof and a passport‑size photograph.
Officials said mapping of properties and structures has been completed, but collection of ownership and rights information remains incomplete despite a similar verification exercise conducted in July.
The extended window is aimed at ensuring wider compliance.
The survey is being carried out under the Goa (National Geospatial Knowledge Based) Land Survey of Urban Habitations Rules, 2025. The department stated that the documents will help prepare draft UrPro Cards, which will subsequently be published in the public domain for inviting objections and suggestions as provided under the Rules.
The pilot survey in Tiswadi has already stirred debate among property owners, with concerns over the legal implications and the impact if not complied.
The extension in August now offers residents a fresh opportunity to comply, and according to official sources, get the draft cards reflecting their rights related to their holdings.
