During his visit, Admiral Lanba was briefed by GSL CMD RAdm Shekhar Mital on progress of export projects, advancement in operational features incorporated in ongoing projects, ongoing refit of INS Tarangini and spare production capacity at GSL.
Admiral Lamba was taken around the shipyard by Mital and was also taken to vessels under construction for exports.
He also visited a vessel in final stages of construction and interacted with the Mauritius Commanding Officer. The ship is scheduled to be delivered to Mauritius Coast Guard by April-end.
Admiral Lamba expressed happiness with the progress of work and was also shown the R&D/virtual design center-seat of innovation in GSL.
The GSL has been recently nominated for high end Missile 1135.6 Frigate Project to be made in collaboration with Russian Shipyard. Formal discussions between GSL and the Russian delegation is scheduled from April 24.
