Navy veteran Milind Tambe (55) along with co-rider Akash Sinha were on Sunday evening felicitated in Vasco for having completed the first leg of their cycling tour from Mumbai to Goa.

They were felicitated by the Ex-Servicemen Association (ESA) in the presence of Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, former councillor Krishna Salkar and other members of the association.

According to Avinash Tiwari of ESA, Tambe is a veteran of Indian Navy and MD/Principal Consultant of Troupe7 Consultants.

"Tambe is an avid high altitude trekker, scuba diver, technical author, photographer and an occasional sailor. Tambe is a proponent of sustainable travel and would like to highlight the harmful aspect of pollution along our pristine beaches. Tambe is now set to fulfil his dream to cycle the entire Indian coast to promote sustainable travel," said Tiwari.

Tambe said he started his expedition which was his dream to pedal along the entire coastline of India and the islands of Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

"This dream distance works to about 7,500-odd kms and I have split this into 4-5 stages. Mumbai to Goa is the first stage while the next leg from Goa to Kanyakumari will be from November. We will then leave from Kanyakumari to Calcutta. After we finish with the Indian mainland, we plan to go to the islands," said Tambe.
