Former Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State President Jose Philip DSouza on Thursday morning hit out at BJP for fooling the mining dependents on the pretext of restarting mining activities in the state. D’Souza also hit out at South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar saying that as a MP who is an advocate is not able to find legal solution for early resumption of mining.

NCP President was speaking to a large gathering of mining dependents who had arrived as a part of Goa Mining people Front (GMPF) led by Puti Gaonkar to seek his party’s support for the dharna planned at Delhi. DSouza assured the GMPF of all support and also said that he would request NCP MPs and central leaders to extend full support during their agitation in Delhi

D’Souza said that the BJP could to prove their worthiness by amending the mining law before January 2019, after that a code of conduct due to general elections could be enforced and it won’t be possible to make amendments.

“As a MP and an advocate, Narendra Sawaikar should have been on the forefront to find a legal breakthrough for early resumption of mining. The BJP is simply giving assurances without having a will to help the mining dependents, which is of no use to them,” DSouza said.
