VASCO
Nationalist Congress party (NCP) State President and former minister Jose Philip D'Souza on Friday said the party will field candidates in every ward of Mormugao to contest the upcoming municipal elections.
D'Souza was speaking to reporters during an event to welcome around 70 people who had joined the party in Vasco.
“As state president of the party, I want to take the party to the next level. We are happy that new members have joined the party and we will strengthen it further. We will soon have a lot of MLAs and former MLAs joining the party and we will have another function in a few days to welcome these leaders in our party," said D'Souza.
"We will field candidates at MMC elections in every ward and if elections are contested on party lines, we will field NCP candidates and contest elections with the party symbol.”
“Due to the pandemic, we could not have big meetings or gatherings of people but very soon we will see a lot of high-level politicians joining the party in Goa," said D'Souza.
NCP Minority President Nazir Khan said they would strengthen the party in Mormugao taluka and enrol members in a big way.
" People are fed up with BJP who have failed to deliver on good governance and are in touch with us to join the party. Our party supremo Sharad Pawar has a vision for the entire country, including Goa, and we want to follow his footsteps and take the party forward.”
“We will float a panel of NCP members for the upcoming MMC elections and get them elected as well," said Khan.
