The new Goa Cabinet will take oath in March in the reconstructed spacious Durbar Hall at the Governor's palace.
The new hall of 1,000 seating capacity reconstructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore is ready and will be inaugurated soon at the hands of India's Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu.
The area of the reconstructed Durbar Hall is 1,665 square feet. Around 4.5 crores have been spent for construction and rest has been spent for decoration.
The old durbar hall had a capacity of just 150 people so big functions with many people could not be accommodated in this hall.
For swearing-in ceremony either limited guests were invited or sometimes the ceremony was held in the special pandals in the campus of Raj Bhavan.
But during rainy days there were problems in holding such programmes and every time the government had to spend money on setting up pandals.
On Liberation Day, Republic Day and Independence Day, the Governor hosts special programmes. This hall will be sufficient for such programmes too.
Now with the newly constructed hall, a 1000 people can easily attend the programmes.
The construction of the hall was started during the time of former governor Mrudula Sinha.
